Holding a Persian Language Course at the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka

A beginner-level Persian language course has been launched at the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka, bringing together twelve participants in a four-month program aimed at promoting Persian language and cultural exchange.

Holding a Persian Language Course at the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri LankaThe elementary Persian language course at the Cultural Office of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka commenced on March 25, 2026 (5 Farvardin 1405), with the participation of twelve learners.

Participants in this course include educated and culturally engaged individuals who are interested in and appreciative of Persian language and literature—an indication of the enduring appeal of this ancient language. Additionally, a number of teenagers have enrolled with the motivation of pursuing further education in the Islamic Republic of Iran.Within the framework of this program, classes are held twice a week, each session lasting one and a half hours. The course is designed over a four-month period, comprising a total of 32 instructional hours.In developing the course content, efforts have been made to adopt a blended approach tailored to the needs, cultural background, and level of familiarity of Sri Lankan learners with Iran. The textbook “First Step” published by the Saadi Foundation is used as the main teaching resource. The course is taught by Mr. Shahini, a member of the cultural office staff.The Cultural Office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka hopes that by organizing such courses, it will further contribute to the expansion of Persian language and literature in Sri Lanka
